About the Role:
The Farm Operations Assistant will work as part of a team to carry out many different aspects of daily production, including harvesting, packaging, systems monitoring, sanitation, inventory control and documentation.
This role requires physical agility, strong attention to detail, ability to adhere to safety and hygiene protocols, and a willingness to learn and take direction.
What You'll Do:
Plant, harvest and pack produce in accordance with guidelines; Carry out activities in accordance with established safety and cleaning protocols; Comply with all food safety practices, sanitation standards and PPE requirements; Assemble, fill, label and pack produce containers of various types; Maintain a clean working environment, including on the packing line; Complete basic process documentation; and Remain flexible in response to the needs of the daily operation.
This role requires sitting, standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), carrying (up to 50 lbs), reaching, twisting, climbing, pushing, and pulling, sometimes for extended periods and in a repetitive fashion.
What You Should Have:
Previous relevant experience in a food manufacturing or agricultural setting; Knowledge of food safety standards or ability to learn about and adhere to these standards; Ability to keep pace in a fast-paced work environment; Ability to perform well in both independent and team-based work activities; Accuracy in the completion of repetitive tasks; Comfortability with long periods of standing, walking or working in one position; Ability to work in both cold and hot environments, as well as in wet environments; and Flexible scheduling availability.
Physical Requirements of the Role:
A successful candidate for this role will be able to complete the following:
Use fingers to grasp, move or assemble; Speak clearly so listeners can understand; Ability to properly don and wear PPE, including gloves and masks; Ability to work in a variety of environments, including hot, cold or humid spaces; Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them; Sit, stand, move, walk, reach, twist and bend for extended periods of time; React quickly using hands, fingers or feet; Adjust the body or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects; See details of objects that are more than a few feet away; Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 lbs; Make fast, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists; and Coordinate movement of several parts of the body, such as arms and legs, while the body is moving.
